Brooklyn piano from Gough & Davy

Post by BLW2713 »

I've just bought an old (looking) upright piano and I was curious as to the age of it.
There's a number stamped on top of the case on the left side, 'Gough & Davy 4843', however I've been in touch with Gough & Davy and they said this is more likely a stock number.

The other number is stamped just above the tuning pegs on the right side, '6857'.
There is a brand name used by Gough & Davy (I'm guessing) printed under the lid covering the keys 'Brooklyn Piano' if this makes any difference, I can post photos if this would help as well.

I don't know an awful lot about pianos and this is the first I've ever bought so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bruce.

Brooklyn piano

What you seem to have is a Brooklyn piano sold by Gough & Davy. These were originally made by Green & Savage, London, but they changed the company name to Brooklyn. No dates of serial numbers are published, and my best advice is to read my Datemarks page at pianogen.org

Photos may help. There are also a number of postings on this forum for Brooklyn.
