Spencer Piano age

Post by sarahw »

Hi,

I have recently saved a Spencer of London piano and would be interested in learning it's age.

It is inlaid walnut, iron clad and has the serial number of 41619 inside under the makers mark.

Many thanks for any light you can shed.

Spencer Piano age

The number suggests that it was made in 1903, so perhaps a year later than the Spencer purchased by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales.

Unless this is a very modern "Spencer" made by someone else, there are too many digits in the number. Most pianos have several numbers inside, have a look at pianogen.org
