Charles Cadby Baby Grand piano, no. 9002

Hi Everyone,

I have a Charles Cadby piano, the number is 9002. Any idea of its age?

The number suggests that the piano was made around 1857, and this seems
a reasonable estimate. Can you tell me the complete, exact wording on
the piano?

It's clear that 9002 is the serial number, I just don't know if the published dates are accurate. Ask your tuner to check the keyboard and action for datemarks.

For 1880, #20500 is the published number for Cadby, but by 1915, Charles Begg's stockbooks show that Cadby's numbers were only up to 19957, 25 years later! That's an enormous discrepancy, casting doubt on the other published dates.
