How old is my Knight?

Post by Herb »

Hi, I have inherited a Knight piano and I know it was bought new in Sydney Australia in the 1960's. I think I emailed a question to Bill recently but I have since found some other markings on the iron frame down on the bottom right hand side. The numbers start from left with 0 - 23 (finely/lightly engraved in a reasonably small font size) then a large 10 then a large HD. The number 13209 is on a plate fixed to the upper left inside of the cabinet, visible just down a little on the left when you open the lid. I also know the piano was purchased from W.H.Palings Pty. Ltd. which was a well known music store in Sydney back then, unfortunately this business does not exist today. I was wondering what the year of manufacture is and any other history I can find please.

As I think I said before, the number suggests 1953, not 1960s, but it
should be dated on the keys. I can't help with anything as modern as
Knight history, but there are items on the net, and someone else may
answer that for you.
