Your opinion on Hohner upright please?

Post by Adela »

Hello, I live in US and a church is selling a used Hohner upright 42" piano but I never heard of "Hohner" and hope someone could tell me whether it is a good one? I'll go tomorrow with a pianist acquaintance of mine to test-play it for me (I'm an absolute raw beginner in my ripe old age!) :)

They ask US$950 + $90 shiping, but even on the phone they easily consented to let me have it for $600 included shipping. I feel uncomfortable that perhaps there's something wrong with this piano?

If my pianist friend and I find iti ok, I intend to have a tuner-technician to inspect it, but even so I'm a little apprehensive.

Just hope for someone to let me know anything they know about this particular brand. It worries me that Google didn't come up with much of it, instead it shows lots of Hohner accordions, keyboards, etc.

Thanks ever so much! And Happy Holidays and Healthy and Happy New Year! :^) Adela

We probably aren't the best place to ask; you ought to ask on the PIANOWORLD website forum, because they're based in america and will have a far better idea of prices and valuations than we have. If you get a technician out ask a member of the Piano Technician's Guild, then you know you've got a good'un!
Good luck and happy Christmas (as we say here!) and new year to you too! :)
I play for my own amazement... :piano;
