Volume reduction
Hi everyone,
does anyone know if there is somebody in the UK who produces or sells something similar to the sound reduction kits on here:
http://www.edwardsstringcovers.com/ ?
I need to reduce the minimum playback volume on a Disklavier Mk III. I know, voicing and maybe playing around with the calibration are other options, but this piano can (apparently) be heard 3 floors below the penthouse it lives in, so it probably needs something more drastic than voicing only.

Acoustic castor cups for one, Yamaha USA do a foam rubber kit for uprights to reduce sound not sure for grands. so you may be able to get one with Yam UK mind you I did ask about five years ago and they had not got a clue what I was taking about
The other option is make a small raised area for the grand to sit on or make your own baffles
last one I did for a Grand I used Ripple Foam faced the ripples up to make air pockets works very well
You also have Bicester mats for under carpets but they are expensive but do work well

Thanks for the hints.
Anyway, I believe that Yamaha were only involved in the initial development/testing in collaboration with a company called Edwards String Covers, who produce and distribute the kit you're talking about. http://www.edwardsstringcovers.com/.
Just because YCA (Yamaha Corporation of America) has developed something doesn't necessarily mean that the Yamaha subsidiaries (or anyone else, for that matter) in the rest of the world ever get to hear about it . In fact, Yamaha produces entire piano ranges (formerly in the US, now in Asia), which are exlusive to the States (and possibly Canada)Barrie Heaton wrote:Acoustic castor cups for one, Yamaha USA do a foam rubber kit for uprights to reduce sound not sure for grands. so you may be able to get one with Yam UK mind you I did ask about five years ago and they had not got a clue what I was taking about
