Can you help me?

Post by bart »

My long suffering piano teacher has given up in despair and is away to Malasya for a month, so hopefully someone can help me here.

So I'd like to learn this bit of simplified Chopin, but I was wondering how this works, look at the screen shot.

For the 3rd quaver, you need the C, but are already using the C. In the second part of the part, again on the 3rd quaver, you need the B flat, which is already being used.

How does that work? Would there be a mistake in the score?

Thanks

Bart

No there isn't a mistake.

Is this a slow moving piece? Sometimes pieces of music like that have a moment where the sustain pedal would be held down which allows you to take your right hand off the C yet using the sustain pedal which gives the impression that the middle C is being sustained.

The arpeggiated left hand pattern seems regular and to interrupt that pattern would be very obvious.

In short, let the left hand take the middle C when it comes around, be it slow moving or faster.
