I've had the piano voiced, which helped a bit, but has also lead to a more uneven touch somehow. I can't fit a bigger piano up the stairs or through a window, so I'd just resigned myself to playing with the practice pedal down for most of the 6 months between tuning. Until I move house, whenever that happens.
However, yesterday in a fit of desperation, I stuffed a duvet between the wall and the back of the B1. What a transformation.
I can now live with the bass and middle range which is less harsh and the treble, which has always been surprisingly good, is now very good.
Maybe the piano was too loud for the room. Net result - I don't need to use the practice pedal and can start to sort out my touch which has been suffering. Volume is reduced almost as much as with practice pedal, but with much better influence over dynamics.
Looks awful of course, but ...
Anyone else tried this?
