Brookman London

Post by nzwibbly »

Hi, Can anyone help with details about our piano we have just acquired. It is labelled Brookman London on the front and inside it says Diploma and Gold Medal Winner All Exhibitions Grand Prix Brussells and also has a sticker saying by appt to his Royal Majesty King of Portugual. Serial number stamped inside reads 20787. I have done loads of searching on google and cannot find any references to Brookman so any help would be awesome. Cheers Rachel & Family

The name is not familiar to me, although I spend a lot of time wading through lists of Londn firms, but I'll have a look. However, the reference to the King of Portugal suggests to me that it might be made by Metzler, and sold under an alias, as many pianos were and still are. Can you see a year for the gold medal? The number may suggest a date shortly before 1903, but I can't tell without photos.

Hi Bill thanks so much for your superquick reply. I cannot see any year on this piano at all. I can take some digital pics and email them if it would help? Thanks again Rachel

Thanks for the link. I looked at it earlier. I will have another good look around the piano tomorrow morn - too dark here in NZ to see much at this time of night! Will post you any further details if I find them. Do you have a special email address for photos? Your help is much appreciated. Cheers Rachel
