Ronisch Piano

Post by Arthur Deigh »

I have a Ronisch piano, we rescued it some years ago when the kids were little. However, they have shown more interest in playing computer games than music and we now have to think about selling it.

But before we make that decision, I am interested in finding out a little more about it.

It is an upright and has the number 13658 stamped underneath the keys.

Can anyone help?

cheers

Underneath the keys is not a usual place for a serial number, but if it is the one, it suggests about 1886. Have a look around for more obvious numbers, or repeats of that one to confirm it as the serial number. These may just be the last 3 digits. Have a look at

Hi Bill

Thanks for that. There is another number - 9523 . It is handwritten on the soundboard. It is in an old-fashioned style. Does this mean anything?

All these things meant something to someone at the time, if it were a serial number it would put the piano nearer 1882, so I suppose if you think of it as being close to 1884, that is probably not far off. Ronisch are still contactable, and may be able to help for a fee.
