Challen & Son Series 22802
Post by scdelaughder »
We were given a Challen & Son Piano Series 22802. We would like any information on this piano. The person who gave us the piano said that it was made about 1850. We would like to know what the cost would be for the piano and if it worth having it restored. The piano works, but needs tuning and some wood work.
Thank You,
Sue DeLaughder

The number suggests that it was made in 1894. Sadly, although I am fascinated by Victorian pianos, they rarely fetch as much as 90 pounds at local auctions here in the UK, unless they have been professionally restored, indeed many fetch less than 20 pounds. It may need tuning, but is it capable of being tuned? NOBODY CAN GUESS THE VALUE OR CONDITION OF A PIANO WITHOUT ON-THE-SPOT TESTING, but it is always interesting to have photos of antique pianos for my files, if you can email me some.
