Brewer & Co.

I have some old ads and dates of addresses etc. for Brewer & Co., which suggest that 14 & 15 Poultry would be between 1871-1885. I can quote for a general booklet through my website, or compile a report based on photos.

Brewer
Greetings from Texas! My parents are in possession of a Samuel Brewer & Co. Piano that they would like to get more info about if someone has any. They know very little about it since it was received in trade. The serial number 8558, the address on the label is "Factory, 8, Collingwood Street, Westmoreland Street, City Road."
Photo's at www.dougmasters.com/piano The photos are kind of large. I think they have the missing ivory from the keys.

Logically, this piano might be around 1880, but certain features suggest something more like 1870. No dates of serial numbers are available, have you look at the Datemarks item at pianogen.org yet? Often, pianos like this will have markings on the keys or action which may help to date them.

Re: Brewer
Thank you, I forwarded that link to my mother to look into. While mentioned as not being neccessarily accurate, the only serial number/date info they found was in the Pierce Piano Atlas offering that serial number 13349 was produced around 1846.
