Im in US....question about Knights

Post by laxindone »

I am in the US and my daughters jazz teach has a knight and she loves, loves the way it plays, very bright. .big sound.......I found one for her.. (they're are about 2 for sale here in the entire US) ..in an Art Deco Style cabinet....he says its from the 50's. I suppose my question is...do they have a good reputation? It appears to be a "Rare Find" here in the US, Apparently, the one response I received from a large piano dealer near Wash. DC...was....they are like trying to find a needle in a haystack..would you recommend a Knight? Thank You

I have heard from plenty of Knight owners in the states, so don't run away with the idea they are rare, but they are often lovely pianos, a real pleasure to play, provided they are tuned regularly. If the tuning is neglected, they may take more tunings to recover, because of the frame design on some models. The sign of quality for me is the beautiful finish on the inside - where it is not often seen.

I tune for about five or six teachers who all have Knight pianos - and who all chose Knight on purpose. Go for it!
I play for my own amazement... :piano;

Hi bill,

It is important to know who was the manufacturer of that piano. As far
as I know, talking about Yamaha manufacturer, that piano was in the
age of 1941 - 1950. Hope it will help.

Thanks...

It is important for you to understand that we have had a number of
enquiries about Knight pianos. I have no idea which one you are talking
about unless you identify it by number, and I can't find anybody called
"mattjerry1" on the site. You don't seem to have answered on the right
posting. If it is a Knight piano, Knight was the manufacturer, so what
has it got to do with Yamaha?
