Harwood, London Upright Piano

Post by retrojetter »

Hi,

I've just been to my local charity shop and spotted a small upright piano sporting the name 'Harwood, London'. I've searched the net but cant find any information on the name Harwood and was wondering if anyone here had heard of it. Could anyone here advise me?

Many thanks
Michelle

I think this is an alias, Harrods were selling them in the twenties, but I haven't come across a real maker with this name so far. Have a look at my Piano Names page at http://www.pianogen.org

Interesting..I have been looking for information on a Harwood upright piano without a lot of success. Mine says Boston under the name , so it would not be from Harrods. Was Harwood a British manufacturer do you know or just a style name? Thanks for any information...

As I said "I think this is an alias, Harrods were selling them in the twenties, but I haven't come across a real maker with this name so far". Which Boston would that be, Lincolnshire or Massachusetts? Pierce lists numbers for an American Harwood.
