Hime & Addison
Post by Bill Kibby »
As I understand it, Hime & Addison were dealers in Manchester around a hundred years ago, and Paish was a dealer in Torquay. Ex-player pianos are not uncommon, but usually very large and deep, because of the large empty space inside! The Hime & Addison sales that I have come across were too early to be pianolas, but I'll see what else I can find out. Photos would be useful. Press www and read the Datemarks page.

If it's any help I have a record which is in a sleeve with the name Hime and Addison on it. It gives their address as 195-7 Deansgate Manchester. Other information on the sleeve is - Established 1815 and their telephone number was Central 7019 (obviously now no longer in existence). Sole Agents for Steinway and Bluther Pianos. Zonophone, Brunswick , Colombia and Parlophone Instruments and Records. "Show Rooms replete with every modern convenience". I've no idea how old the record is as it was with a job lot on a car boot sale.

Interesting about 1815, I have previously found no record of Hime before the 1850s.
