Broadwood grand

Post by RobCasey »

Hello. Im making an enquiry on behalf of an elderly neighbour. She is moving to smaller accomodation soon and is having to sell her Broadwood (she thinks its a boudoir) grand. It has a model no 46075. She had been offered 250UKP by a Manchester dealer which she was going to accept, but to confuse the issue her tuner then told her that even though its in need of overhauling its worth 10,000UKP and in reconditioned state it would be worth 20,000UKP, and so now she doesnt know what to do. I know a valution is too difficult with seeing it, but do you know if these figures are realistic? There is an ad currently on this web sites database which shows a similar looking but overhauled Broadwood for 1500UKP - is this figure more in the right region? Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you mean that the serial number is 46075, this suggests it was made in 1900, and few people will buy grands at all in the UK, let alone one this old. I have seen Broadwood grands unrestored going for &50 at local auctions, and the prices you see on the internet are no guide to what they will actually fetch. I don't believe anyone would pay 10,000 pounds for it in any state, I'd grab the 250, but then, a friend of mine is looking for a Broadwood of that age to restore, I could ask him. See
