Baby Grand Missing Foot Pedals

Post by yipes »

I just bought a beautiful used baby grand piano with the inscription "Conroy St Louis-New York". It is missing all the foot pedals and hardware for them. A piano tuner said it is worth $5,000-$6,000 US if we can get pedals. But without the pedals, it is not worth anything and will not stay tuned. We would like to make them ourselves but were told they must be tailor made for this piano. Any suggestions on finding pedals or having them "tailor made"?
Thanks much!

If you have threst of the pedal lyre, then any good dealer/repairer will dozens of old pedals and would also have access to current peadls. If he knows his onions it won't be too big a job to adapt some.
Having no pedals won't affect the tuning in any way of course
Our mission in life is to tune customers--not pianos.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it

Do you mean the pedal lyre is missing?

Even if it is, it should be easy enough to get one from a scrapped piano and modify it to fit.

The work needs to be properly done and look professional, otherwise it will not add value to the piano.
