Collard & Collard Age
I have a nice Collard & Collard upright, # 161528. I got a quick age estimate of 1900 to 1910 on one of the piano sites and was wondering if anyone could give me a closer age estimate based on their documentation. I was also a little leary of the date given as the tuning pin size is a #0 or less and another site said that tuning pins that small were only used prior to 1900?
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Collard & Collard Age

The published numbers suggest 1901, but sadly, life is rarely as simple as some websites would like to make it, some London makers were still using oblong pins in the early 1900s! As for Collard serial numbers, you might like to read my comments on the Numbers page of my own website. The Datemarks page there will tell you where to look for further help.
