Ronisch Upright 1905

Post by Lainie »

I bought the piano twelve years ago and at the time was told it was the top model for it's time (1905) because of the three crowns. I believe the crowns were awarded for excellence but by whom? I've searched my records and only found the following, apart from a brief bio.

"Rewarded with highest awards at all expositions, wherever his pianos have been exhibited, Ronisch was also personally honoured with decorations of distinction and appointed purveyor to the Court of Saxony."

Thanks for enlightenment.

Crowns appear in many forms on many different pianos, they are not awarded, the makers just put them there. Sometimes it is because they have supplied pianos to royalty, as Ronisch did, but sometimes they just want to give that impression. Nobody could say that any one piano was the top piano, it is largely a matter of personal taste.

Thanks for your reply, Bill. What I meant was that it was the top Ronisch model in 1905. I've just had a reply from Leipzig Roenisch -

"Ronisch was the appointed supplier of some royal courts such as Saxony, around 1870, Sweden-Norway 1890 and Austria-Hungary 1901 - the arms of the courts."

Some information which might interest Ronisch owners.
