Ambridge Piano?

Post by van cleef »

I'm new here so hope there is someone who can help. My father grew up in a local house when he was younger and has now purchased it to do up as his new house. So here it goes - after gutting the house we came across an old piano in need of restoration. The piano is stamped with what I can make out... Beury Ambridge London, It is in quite a sorry state and I wondered if these pianos are worth the money to restore, not to sell on but to put back into the house after the build is finished. I used to play a little when I was little and was maybe thinking about doing some lessons again.

Thanks.......

I guess this must be Henry Ambridge, who established his business in 1890, and it becam Ambridge & Son around 1900, so that suggests a date in the nineties for yours. These were average, cheap London pianos, worth very little over here, like most Victorian pianos, but for real answers you would have to get your local tuner to look at it.

Thank you for the history because every time i googled Beury Ambridge it came up with Henry.

I think getting a local tuner out to look at it would be a good idea, something i had'nt thought about.

Thanks again
