Music Wire
Can someone please give me a definitive answer on the question of plated versus polished wire?
Living in an old house, my Bluthner has acquired surface rust on the polished Roslau wire.....yes, I know, buy a new dry house!
I am about to have a large Challen grand re-strung. Would it be a good idea to specify plated Roslau wire, or is it really inferior tonally to their polished?

The best is polished wire then get a string blanket (you will have to get it from the USA)fitted and a piano life saver fitted (from the UK ) with an under blanket and all should be well with the world
Or use stainless steel wire not a false as plated wire and no plating to come off. However, SS wire like plated produce a different sound to polished wire
