Kaims & Gonther Grand Piano
I have this piano, and I`m interested, who made it and when. Can someone help me find out? It`s been bought by my great grandfather and stays in our family for 130 years. Waiting for some reply.

Kaims & Gonther Grand Piano
Post by Bill Kibby »
I wouldn't have thought it was quite that old, but it is probably close to that, and apparently somewhat Viennese in style. I will see what I can find about Haims & Gonther, but there is no way of looking up the individual piano. Have a look at the Archives page at http://www.pianogen.org

KAIM & GUNTHER, GERMANY
1819 Established at Kircheim.
1845 Kaim & Gunther?
1883 Two separate firms - Kaim & Sohn, Gunther.
A ridiculous website offers me the opportunity to press buttons to select Kaim & Gunther grand or uprights, but in eithe case, the effect is the same - the website has NO information on the item it lists!
KAIMS & GONTHER, LONDON
This name appears quite clearly on the fall of the grand piano possibly made around 1883, but does not show up at all in our many London lists. For example, our Post Office London Directory of 1892 does not list Haims, Kaims, Gonther or Gunther.
"Gunther" is a better-known name, and there is always the danger than names are translated into different spellings.
"Kaims" quite clearly ends with an S, although the initial K is smaller than the G.
