Water Damage to Piano

Post by Maff »

Hi,

I need some advice. Around four months ago I spilt some water on my Piano keyboard causing about half an octaves worth of keys to swell up and stick. Some of the keys have freed off with the warm weather but some are still stuck and look slightly warped. What should I do? :?:

More that likely it is your key bushings that have swelled up also they may have come un glued – if it is just swollen bushings then key easing pliers will fix the problem. If the glue have gone then that section or all the keys may have to be re-bushed.

The first is a simple job for the tuner to sort, replacing the bushing will be more expensive.

Thanks Barrie, I think I'll get my piano tuner to check it out.
