bass bridge problem

Post by johnT »

I'm a keen amateur piano tech eager to learn. Just been given a kemble with a bass bridge coming away and a cracked, what I think, is the spacer. Following Reblitz's instruction to attempt repair. (Piano was going to be dumped, before the hair stands up on the back of your necks). He says to loosen off the bass strings, but should I loosen off treble as well to avoid stress. Any tips greatly appreciated (and jokes).

Is it a Kemble Classic? Small, 85 note modernish angular looking piano with a slopey top door?

Common problem on these, I have repaired about three of them. There's no need to slacken off the treble strings.

Once repaired they're half decent for their size!
