Mabey & Co

Post by Blueyes »

Hi,

I have just bought an Edwardian piano forte in rosewood and walnut. It is made by Arthur J. Mabey and has the royal standard on it (I live in London). Does anybody know about this maker or can anyone tell me where to look?

In 1892, Mabey & Co., Pianoforte Makers, were at 244 Kennington Park Road SE., but they do not appear on any of my other computer lists so far. I'll see what I can find on card and paper files...

Thanks Bill,

I have looked everywhere and was beginning to wonder if they were just the retailer. It would be intersting to know the history on the company as from what you say it seems pretty small.

Regards

Not necessarily small, but probably short-lived, or they were not a true piano firm, just some one selling a few with their name on them. Type mokerard in the address bar.
