King Brothers 1873 London
Post by mary texas »
I have a piano made in 1873 by Peter Maxwell & Son, 457 Paisley Road Glasgow, and sold by King Brothers, London. It has fabulous wood inlays and candlestick holders. I live in Texas and wondered if anyone on this site could give me any history. Thanks, Mary.

1873 is not the date of manufacture, it may refer to an exhibition medal, possibly Vienna or Philadelphia. Around 1890, the firm became Maxwell & Son, but they were dealers, King Brothers made the piano in London, and were probably the recipients of the medal. The only real claim to fame they have is that Elton John learned on one.
