Cranes Pianos

Post by Lucy Lewis »

I am looking to buy a piano and have come across new pianos for sale at Cranes, Cardiff, from about 1600 pounds. Does anyone have any knowledge of these pianos - are they considered to be good quality? They certainly 'look' lovely on the website and plenty of information is provided, but the price seems quite low to me although I know very little about this as yet. What would people recommend for around the 2000 pound mark? I prefer a soft and mellow tone, and a traditional looking style. Thanks very much!

Not a Cranesat any rate.

They're fine (as is any piano) if you can be bothered to make the journey to Cardiff, try one, find you like it, then have that particular piano delivered, but if you're in Cambridge you should be shopping there, or nearby at least, not on the internet. It's the worst place in the world to buy a piano. If you go to a dealer and like a piano, buy that one, not a similar one because they can vary. All pianos are different.

For 2K I would suggest a Yamaha b1 or a Perzina.

Not the same company I don't think though. As far as I recall, all Cranes franchisees had the chance to buy the rights to the name.
