Whitfields of Huddersfield

Post by RyanHill & Sons »

hi i am having a little trouble finding out about the piano i have, ive looked all over the net but it seems theres no such one?
the only details i have is its over 100 years old and on the front under the lift up key cover (sorry no idea what you call that )it has the following writing "imperial piano,Whitfields,Huddersfield" inside the top(upright piano) it has a printed number "Whitfields 3777" and a set of cut into the wood number " 16019 " the piano should have some candle holders on the front but these have dissapeared? and it has a tortois shell type patterned wood affect to it. if any one could give me some detaisl on this item as its kind of hard to sell with no information on it.cheers phil

They were around for half a century, but the vast majority of piano names are not listed on the net. What sort of info were you hoping for? Serial number dates are not available. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org

We don't even know it is that old, I think they were only just beginning a century ago, and in 1899 they were still known as Whitfields, Johnson & Co., so this is later than that.
