hydrometer - recommendations?

Post by abc1337 »

HI,

Can anyone recommend a particular brand/make of the above thats accurate etc?

I took delivery of my Zimmermann Z1 a few weeks ago - its fine and sounds lovely - i just want to keep it that way!

Any links/suggestions/replies gratefully recieved.

thanks

Andy

PS - i narrowed it down in the end to the z1 v a schimmel, and went for the Z1,

The Zimmermann Z1 is very nice and much more stable that the Schimmel

As to a Hygrometer/ this type is very good or equivalent make I have 5 of them they store the max and min so you can see what is going on when you are not there

I asked a similar question on Piano World recently. See this link.

given it is relatively easy to calibrate a hygrometer (see my posts elsewhere about salt test or google 'salt-testing of hygrometer', try and obtain a hygrometer that can be adjusted.

How much variation should you expect on day-to-day and during-the-day basis?

My room varies from 46% to 51% over the course of one day. I have a dehumidifier which switches on when the humidity is roughly 48% or higher, but even then with it running the humidity rises a bit.

depends a lot on the weather to be honest grenache - mine soars quite a bit when the weather turns really stormy but as long as it is only moving gradually rather than in big sudden swings you should be fine. A 5% deviation is not going to cause any problems I wouldn't have thought.
