George Rodgers & Sons

Post by marcus25758 »

I just registered to this site. I am not sure if this is where I am supposed to ask questions so please forgive me if I am wrong. As a child my father brought me a George Rodgers & Sons piano in an auction in Sydney. I have had it ever since. The number stamped on either end of the keyboard is 19813. I am hoping that someone can give me an idea of the age and history of this piano.

Rodgers or Rogers?

Would I be right in assuming that this is George ROGERS? The numbers stamped on the keys are not likely to be serial numbers for the piano, they would be numbers from the key-makers. The serial number may be visible just by opening the top. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org

Nobody anywhere can trace the history of every individual piano, but if you email me, I can quote for printing general historical notes on George Rogers' company and pianos, or I may be able to compile a report on design and approximate age from photos.
