My newly aquired Berry

Post by ianlee »

Hi, I'm wondering if you can help me date my 'new' Berry, aquired today from a generous 'freecycler' (see http://www.freecycle.org/)

There are two numbers on it that I can find:

290D on the metal frame inside the piano
34021 stamped into the wood at the rear right hand top corner of the piano

It looks just like this one here:

It has 86 keys.

Any help much appreciated :)

Ian

I worked for Berry Pianos in the sixties. The number suggests 1935, but have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org

Thanks Bill, I'll have a look there. It's also got 'Mickleburgh, Bristol' written under the keyboard lid on the left hand side - does that give any clues?

Mickleburghs are still there, they are dealers, who evidently must have sold it in modern times.
