Erard Paris 27297

Post by jasoka »

I have an Erard piano, in the plaque is the following inscription:

Fabrique par S.P. Erard a Paris pour Amedee Michel a Mexico 27297

It also has a medal that says

Exposition universelle de Londres. La seule grande medaille accorde aux pianos & harpes aet decerne a Erard.

I would like to have more information (year, estimated value (it´s in perfect shape), and any more relevant facts about it).
Thank a lot for your help

The published numbers would suggest 1856, but researchers in France, working with original records, have found that these published dates are not reliable. Nobody anywhere can research the individual history of every single piano of every make, but at least there are Erard archives in existence, and I can probably arrange for a search if you email me, but there will be a fee.

Does it give the year of the London "exposition"?
