Used Yams

Post by mdw »

As a piano dealer ive always tried to find good low milage UK stock and never really got involved in 2nd hand Yams etc. None of the pianos I buy in for stock from the late 80s need reconditioning yet, a bit of regulating etc perhaps. So my question is are these Yams described as reconditioned, totaly thrashed music school pianos that really need reconditioning or are the dealers just bigging it up , ie mine are reconditioned and yours arnt.

its all down to what you all reconditioned most 1970 + ones I have seen have had the case done, tapes and if you are lucky loops. but quite a lot of them have tiered basses and dead spots in the treble but are advertised as full reconditioned

So tarted up rather than reconditioned. We have a cowboy localy whos idea of reconditioning is to clean the keys and replace the nameboard felt   if only I had known it was that easy I could have saved the 3 years training at Newark.

5 star blow out with compressed air was one of our local shops idea of reconditioned

The problem is there is no definition the PTA to their credit did try to get one set up as a trade standard but there was very little take up :!:
