Challen & Son
Hello I'm Max from the Netherlands and I just bought an old English upright piano with overdamper made by Challen & Son. I found a registration number on the inside which is 23704 and while cleaning the keyboard I found an inscription on the right key: E. Pull february 1876 or 1896 thats not clear to read. The keyboard is made by Brooks Limited. My question is can you tell me if the date 1876 or 1896 is the correct date? And can you tell me more about the company Challen & Son, I can't find much on the internet about this company.
Kind regards
Max

There are thouasands of items on the net about Challen, the "& son" is not always used. You also joined the words together, which will affect your search. Brooks Limited would be after 1890, and the serial number suggests 1896, which is confirmed by the markings inside.
