Steinberg piano

Post by pkb »

Hi everyone, my freind has a Steinberg grand serial number 7512. Can anyone give me information on it? He's not on the net so I'm doing this for him. What year is it, how do we value it, and what's its history, can anyone help? You can email me at philipdbrady@hotmail.com if you prefer. I cant find anything else stamped on the piano apart from the name and the serial number.

This number is nothing like the publsihed ones, which are much larger, but I have no information about how accurate they are. Have a look at the Numbers page at www.PianoGen.org

For more information on Steinberg, Berlin go to http://www.uk-piano.org/piano-forums/piano4728.html.
The piano with serial number 7512 must have been manufactured between 1908 (foundation of the company) and 1920. I guess it was around 1915.

Post by Bill Kibby »

First, you need to get a tuner to test every one of the tuning pins, because if they are loose, replacing them may cost more than the piano is worth. Having tested them, the piano will need tuning. Then you can ask about values...

If it's a Lexow number, it could be around 1926, but this would not be on the keys, it would be on the action. The name means nothing to me.
