straight strung vs overstrung

Post by tz steve »

Hi there,

Im looking to get a new piano soon and I
saw a restored bechstein 9 on the net the price seems reasonable but noticed its not overstrung,
does this make a big difference to the sound? the piano im currently using (an old crane and sons) is straight strung too but its well knackered, Ive looked at a few u3s u1s etc and they all sound very bright compared to my old crane, id rather something with a warmer tone than the yamahas,
Any suggestions??

Thanks
Steve

A model 9 *is* overstrung.

Don't buy *any* piano over the net without having it checked over first and having tried it yourself. Obviously the vendor of the straight strung Model 9 knows little about what he has for sale....
