Crane and sons upright

Hi there,

A piano was passed on to me by my grandmother and id like to try find out the date it was made,
Its a crane and sons and the no inside on the left is c + s 9224
Ive also noticed that all the removable parts of the piano have this no penciled on could this be 9 of the 2nd 1924?
according to my gran its older any help at all would be appreciated

Numbers don't usualy work like that. When I asked years ago, Cranes were unable to help with archive information, and serial numbers cannot be dated because they were made by several factories. Part of your quesion is answered on the Numbers page at www.PianoGen.org but look at the Datemarks page as well.
