Witton Upright Piano
My parents have a Witton Upright Piano. We have no idea of its age. It has 'Witton' painted on the front and inside is a medallion with 'Witton, London' printed on it. We can't find any date or serial number but haven't looked that hard as we don't know where these might be hidden. It has what I assume is a retailers mark painted on the front which reads 'Fraser, Son & McKenzie Ltd - Bedford, Northampton & Rushden'. It is quite plain and is possibly walnut (veneer?) and the music stand, which concertinas open, lifts out of the top of the piano rather than being on the underside of the lid. It has 'legs' in front of the main body. Can you give me any indication of its age and any other information about it. Thank you in anticipation.

There is nothing to give us any real idea, except that the name "Witton" on its own, rather than David Witton or Witton & Witton, suggests 1900s, and the description could equally be twenties or fifties. That dealer was around in the thirties. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org
