U3FS?

Post by Lieu »

So, I came accross a yamaha U3 with (supposedly) U3FS stamped on the frame - you know, with the serial number. I've searched around and I can't find anything indicating what it means. If anybody knows, it's you guys! Any ideas? Thanks.

It's a U3.

Series F, with sostenuto pedal. U3FS will be printed on the frame rather than cast into it.

Chances are that this piano was built (in Japan) for the UK market too.

Ah, thanks a bunch; just a normal U3 then. I just thought there might be something different about it because I never see that printed.

Just a normal U3.

Yamaha's numbering system can get confusing at times, since "S" can sometimes denote a silent piano. Here it means "Sostenuto".

Most imported U3s have a celeste as standard, so this is likely to be a UK model.
