Sames Upright Grand

I have an old Sames. I know that William Sames of Birmingham, England started making this piano in 1855. I also know that it was made before electricity because of the beautiful candelabra built in to the front. It has elaborate gold tole work on it. It is in bad shape. Some keys have no sound at all. I know that it needs to be restored and tuned. Would like some idea as to what it might be worth on Ebay in an "as is" condition. Any info on a Sames upright grand with the original candelabra would be appreciated. I cannot find a serial number. I live in a small town in South Carolina. Don't believe there is a piano expert within 100 miles!

It wasn't that this particular piano started to be made in 1855, that was when the company was begun. Pianos don't have candelabra, they have sconces - projecting candleholders, which were commonplace for over a century up to the 1920s, and give no other clue to date. They do not prove that there was no electricity! Serial number dates are not available for Sames. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org
