Henry Ward

Post by Iceni »

I've just got a piano and know nothing about it. I found a little on your forum already but would like to know the age etc if anyone can help me?

It's an upright piano by Henry Ward and there are 2 number stamps on the inside. Both at the right hand side, the upper most one reads 17265, the other one is slightly below and futher to the right and reads 5762.

There is also a number written on the side of the 85th key: L.H.28.4.90 3

On the underside of the lid (the one over the keys) is has a printed medal for good quality from the 1885 inventions exhibition.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Becky.

Strange coincidences often happen, but I really can't believe that two Ward pianos have turned up on consecutive days, dated 24th April 1890! Surely I must have dealt with this piano for Stephen Foster by email yesterday? If not, let me know.
