Buckingham Piano

Post by Peter Evans »

Hi. First time on the forum. Can anyone help with the following as I'm a rooky at this sort of thing. I am looking for some information on my piano. It is an upright, mahogany, 7 octave, Buckingham. The Buckingham name is on its own on the inside of the lid. Serial number 84046. I have been on the Kemble website and know that they made the Buckingham but I expected to find the Kemble name as well somewhere on the piano. Was this made by Kemble as I cannot find the name Kemble anywhere. Any info would be gratefully received, origin, year built, second hand value, etc

Many thanks

The Buckingham name is a relatively recent one in the history of Kemble.

Chances are that you have a "Buckingham Model" which was a stencil that could be bought by all and sundry to stick on the fall of any old no-namo piano to give it an identity.

In short it could be anything.
