Charles B. Cree
I have recently acquired a piano but know nothing about its origin or age. It reads on the piano...
Pianofortes, American Organs, Harmoniums &c.
Charles B. Cree [or Tree?]
132 Petherton Road N
London
If anyone has any information about this piano that would be wonderful!

I will see what I can find, it is unlikely to be a real maker or we would know of them, so it may well be a dealer who put his name onto pianos bought in from an anonymous wholesaler, in which case you will have to look for clues inside. The address suggests that it is before 1918.

Cree or Tree?
Post by Bill Kibby »
So far, I cannot find any London piano firms named Cree or Tree, and none have been found at 132, Petherton Road, which was (in 1892) a shop rather than a factory. At that time, it was between two other shops of different names and different trades. Can you email me any photos to give me an idea of the period? Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.pianogen.org
