Hillier Piano Company

Hello

I recently moved back to the US from London. While living there, we bought a battered upright with the name Hillier Piano Company London, and a notation above the keys "Registered Iron Frame, Trichord, Check Action".

It has some beautiful mahogany veneers (and solids), but needs some restoration. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this, since if it is your basic run of the mill piano fallen into disrepair I would probably do the restoration myself. Not looking for a valuation per se, since I don't intend to sell it.

I appreciate any help anyone can give.

There was an E. Hillier in the 1850s, and James Hillier was a piano maker from around that time until the 1890s, but we have not found a trace of the Hillier Piano Co. as such, although it may be James. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.pianogen.org
