Rud. ibach sohn

Post by jm »

Hello.
and many thanks for allowing me to join your site.
Excuse me,I'm french and my english is not very good, so I simply Copy and Paste parts of another post.
East of France,We had the opportunity to get an old
Rud. Ibach sohn Upright Piano.
I wondered if you could help me learn more about his history.
It is in black teinted wood case.
There is a number printed inside it which is 14240.
I Would really be interested to find out more about it ( date of manufacture).
I can send one or more pictures of it, if needed.
Here's hoping someone may be able to help me or point me in the right direction!
Many Thanks.

Thanks a lot Gill.
It's just what I was thinking about.
I have seen a site where the all production of Rud. Ibach Piano's was counted.
......... in this year. etc...
But I can't find it anymore.
Have you an idea?

www.pianoatlas.com is the one linked to Pierce's piano atlas, and that has lists of serial numbers. But unless they're American pianos, the numbers can't be taken as 100% correct.

I would phrase that differently, and say we only have proof that many of the ones this side of the ocean are wrong! For more details, see the Numbers link at www.pianogen.org

And the same link will point out that numbers often do not represent actual production figures.
