I have chance of a 5'4" Sommerfeld Grand (prob too big for my studio) was told it is a rare quality polish! piano from the earlier 1930's - it certainly plays well! Any info on Sommerfeld?

Sounds ghastly!

Maybe bought from an early branch of this?

As a rule, the Poles can't build pianos. The Czechs can just about do it, but with variable results.

In the case it states 1910, 1918, 1927 & 1930 won Paris Grand Prix and gold medal, and big gold medal in paris exhibitions - does play very well indeed, excellent tone and action - although most Polish pianos are a load of B-cks - i am still open minded.

If you like it, get a local tuner to check it over.

It may be OK.
