I need a 6'8" grand moved from the south of England to a town in Abruzzo, Italy. Does anyone know of a firm that can do that?

They wouldn't dare do a bad removal these days.

You could ask Jeff Schakell the Piano dealer in Oxford , he's excellent I hear and if he can't do it I am sure that he would know who could...if not You could try Russels removals based outside Andover, I gather they move Pianos for Chris Venables.... if not then G&R will be your best bet, sure they dropped the Boesendorfer which was unfortunate and costly but in their defense, it can happen to anyone, it was just unlucky that someone was filming it. I gather that they move many pianos without a hitch so this one occaision was just very unlucky. To add to the above comments though I would make doubly certain that YOUR insurance covers risks whilst the Piano is being moved...never assume that the carrier is covered sufficiently, cover your back.

Good luck with your move...

Hi,

To keep the costs down in the low thousands, it will probably need to be delivered to a shipper, crated then shipped to a destination city, then delivered to the final destination.

Or hire a van, get a piano mover to load it in the van, pay me to drive the van to Italy, then get a local firm to unload it.

Let us know what estimates you get.

Rgds.

OK, I have been quoted £890 + VAT, which seems fairly reasonable to me. Pianos that are relatively worthless here are worth good money there (though a new Yammie is slightly cheaper) so it may be worthwhile doing.
