HELP! I found a gutted player piano!

Post by shalala1234 »

When I was walking home I found a piano on the side of the road. Who does this? A Weller Pianol, I think.
I looked at it only to discover that someone had gutted the player part of it!

Any advice on where I can get a whole player mechanism for this piano. I'll update the topic as I go along to give you more details.

People often do it, because the piano bits are easier to mend than the ola bits...so they rip out the ola and still have a good (hopefully) piano. You'd have to find EXACTLY the same model as a donor if you wanted to get yours going again. In which case you might as well keep the donor pianola (oo! poetry!) instead, if you see what I mean.

The piano isn't that good

Post by shalala1234 »

I just played it. It had been on the side of the road for weeks(who does this?!) and all the felt on the striking hammers was rotting, it was out of tune, trash was in it,
the keys had those annoying stickers of the notes the keys represented, the wood was ruined, the pedals weren't good,
and the keys wouldn't pop up after depression. :( :( :( :(
The poor thing deserves a funeral. By the way, if you didn't read this already, it is a Weber Pinaola, US model (wonder why? ) Also, the switches for tempo and pneumatic pedals were removed! Any donor parts are exceptable, as it will soon picked up by the garbage man any time!!!
If you have information on where/how to get parts please inform me soon! This is a sad sight to see every day.
