Hicks & Son piano

i have just been given a piano made by Hicks & Son, London. The keyboard has another name above it which is Alderson and Brentnall Ltd., Newcastle upon Tyne. The serial number is 40223. (or at least i think that is the serial number !) anybody got an idea how old it is and possible value ? thanks
