Decker & Son

Post by pdamm »

I've been offered a Decker and Son 56-1/2" Upright as a donation to sell for a non-profit organization. I have no idea of its value and how to price it for sale. It has string marks in the felts, and the usual sticky key or two. It is stored in an unheated garage in Washington State USA. It has serial number 1230. Can anybody give a clue as to a fair value? What is a typical cost to free up action and replace felts? Or can you point me toward a way to get value?

You're on the wrong side of the ocean to be asking us for valuation, you need a tuner there on the spot. "Typical cost" for full is often more than the piano is worth, but we cannot guess what state it is in from here. See the Valuation link at pianogen.org

If it is Decker & Son it is likely to be old, as in 1910 or earlier. Decker Brothers might be slightly newer, but still pre-1930. In either case, of negligible value.
